WOODEN BOX

 
AMERICAN - 20TH CENTURY

We are offering an antique, wooden box painted and signed by contemporary artist, Kathy Graybill. Ms. Garybill paints 18 to 20 Century furniture and accessories common to Colonial American design. She has been licensed by Williamsburg for restoration and creation of American pieces. She is a self-taught artist whose subjects include Folk Art, Pennsylvania German Fraktur, and English themes common to early America. These designs are reproduced with the strictest guidelines to detail that our forefathers created centuries ago. Each piece is painted with the highest quality materials and is "one of a kind" piece to treasure.

 The designs on the box are characteristic of Mahantongo Valley in Central Pennsylvania. It demonstrates the influence of  the "Fraktur" tradition (1750-1840) which is the manuscript art brought to American by the Pennsylvania Germans. This "manuscript art" combined calligraphic text with related designs,figures and symbols.

This box offer all the "Fraktur" elements with the center front panel of stylized tulips with an angel on either side, the stylized tulips at each end and stylized tulips and doves on the lid. The border of the box is solid lines of yellow and red.. This piece is in excellent condition. The dimensions are 15"L, 10 1/4"W, 8"H.

PAINTED SLIDE TOP CANDLE BOX

We are offering an antique, slide top candle box painted and signed by contemporary artist, Kathy Graybill. The designs on the box are in the "Jonas Weber" tradition (1810-1876) who specialized in wooden ware, especially small or miniature chests, slide top candle boxes and cradles. His signature style was a house, front and center with one or two trees on either side. The foreground was painted to represent a landscape of rolling hills much like his native Lancaster County. A single stylized tulip enhanced the side panels while a flower and striped border complimented the lid. Weber worked in polychrome colors, that is, bright yellow, dark green, black and dark red.

This box offer all the "Weber" elements with the House on either side, the stylized tulips at each end and stylized flowers on the lid. The border of the box is striped. This piece is in excellent condition. The dimensions are 13"L, 8 1/2"W,10 1/2"H.

Teapot

American, 20th Century
We are offering a pewter tea pot in original and complete condition. The design is clean with a wooden,painted handle and gooseneck spout. The lid has a flower shaped finial.All welds are sound with intact seams and the pewter has aged to a wonderful patina.The bottom is incised with the number "13" and a maker's mark of "providence". This piece shows honest, minor wear and is in overall very good condition. The dimensions are 9"H,10"W,4 1/4" diameter at the base.

Measure

Holland, 18th -19th Century
We are offering a pewter measure. There are two marks on the bottom. One is the letters SL-PL. The other is an encircled rose with the words"PBVANDERLEYDEN MECHELEN". The handle has the word "HALVEKAN" incised down the length. On the front are various encircled letters which represent inspection signs that the measure is accurate. These measures are very rare and hard to find. This piece shows honest minor wear and is overall good condition. The dimensions are 6 1/4"H,4 1/2"W and 3 1/4" D.

Lidded Measure

France, 18th - 19th Century
We are offering a French, lidded measure. The bottom is engraved with "5L-P5". There is another engraving "Delaur Seiulins" on the bottom. The lid has the letters "LS" and the number "6" incised on the top. These marks often represent certification as a measure. This is a rare piece which would enhance any collection. This piece shows honest,minor wear and is overall good condition. The dimensions are 5 1/4"H, 3 1/2"W, 3"D.

We are offering a English pewter charger. There are two marks on the back. One mark is a rose with a crown. the other mark is "ACICUS" and the word "London". This charger shows honest wear but in overall very good condition. The charger is 15" in diameter.

Teapot

We are offering a antique tin tea pot painted and signed by contemporary artist, Kathy Graybill. This piece has two bands of color- white and brick with feather swirls in brick,green,gold and white throughout pot. The front of the pot has graduated swirls with large white swirls in the middle. The lid has gold feather swirls. This piece shows minor wear and is in overall good condition. It is signed on the bottom. The dimensions are 7 " H, 5 1/2" D.

Dome Lid Box

We are offering a antique,dome lidded, toleware box painted and signed by contemporary painter, Kathy Graybill. This box has a feather swags with pomegranets on the front, sunburst on the top and gold feather borders on lid and sides. It has a latch on the upper front and a ring on the lid. This piece shows moderate wear on the original paint but structurally sound and strong.The inside is clean and in good condition. The dimensions are 4 3/4". 8" W, 4"D.

Painted Box

The designs on the box offer stylized motifs and symbols in the "Federal" tradition with an eagle encircled by a wreath of flowers on the top, a flowered banner on the front and banners gracing each side. These elements, added by the artist, complement the fine design of the piece. The interior has a lift out tray with section dividers. This piece is in excellent condition with very minor wear. The dimensions are 5"H,10"L,5"D.
